Church Dedications
The Arlington Journal
Arlington, Texas (First Church).
First Church of Christ. Scientist. Arlington, will hold its dedication service on Sunday, June 30, in the church edifice, 500 Summit Avenue. Two services are scheduled during the day, at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The new building was opened for services on November 4, 1956. Christian Science churches are not dedicated until free of debt.
A small group of interested persons met in a rented room at 106 West Main Street in the year 1925 to conduct the first Christian Science services in Arlington. The growth of this informal group was steady, expanding into and being recognized in December, 1939, as a Christian Science Society, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
