I was healed of partial deafness...
I was healed of partial deafness at a Christian Science lecture. The trouble had begun with an ear infection when I was a child and knew nothing about Christian Science. It began to annoy me years later, after I had become a student of this religion, and my hearing was perfectly restored as I listened carefully to the lecturer. There was a snap in my ear, and I have had perfect hearing ever since. This was at least eleven years ago. Anyone who listens attentively to a Christian Science lecture can expect healing.
I cherish a happy memory of the birth of my second child. The day stands out as one of the most inspired days of my life. I had requested treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, and the arrival of the little one was painless. My heart sang with gratitude when the boy was placed in my arms just after his birth. This occurred during World War II, at a time when many things were difficult to obtain, but every need was met. To one whose first child was born without Christian Science treatment, the contrast between the two occasions is great. In fact, it is easy to realize the difference in my life since I have found Christian Science.
When I sustained burns in an explosion of gas from a hot-water heater, I called a practitioner for help. The pain left in half an hour, the swelling in another half hour, and the redness a few hours later. I was able to serve as church organist the following morning freely and happily.
At first I used Christian Science for my own comfort, then for the well-being of my family. Now I find it supremely satisfying to give help to those who ask for it, since Science is the panacea for every ill.
One time when I was suffering from a severe case of lung congestion, I became gravely ill. I could hardly breathe, and I was not comfortable in any position. I held a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and could read to a certain extent. I clung to what little I read and made up my mind that I would stay with God and the truths of Him contained in that precious book no matter what. At one point I was apparently no longer breathing, but to my joy I found that I was still living. From that time on, I improved until I was healed.
After the many healings of sickness which I have seen in my own life, through the study and application of Christian Science, I understand the truth of the Psalmist's statement that it is God "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction" (Ps. 103:3,4).
On page xi of the Preface to Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes, "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation." My heart goes out in thanksgiving to God for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy, the revelator of the Comforter, Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Clarice Betz, Chesterton, Indiana.
