A printed lecture first introduced...
A printed lecture first introduced my mother and me to Christian Science. It was a statement to the effect that Christian Science is primitive Christianity that caught our attention.
My mother and I were both under the care of physicians, though Mother's physician had said he could do no more for her heart condition. I had been counseled I must rest every spare minute because of an overactive thyroid gland. Of course we were both very fearful and lived according to the letter of the medical rules laid down for us. I could get about, although Mother could not.
We knew of no Scientists within a hundred miles, and so as soon as I had finished teaching for the summer we went to a city where we could have Science treatment. Before that, Mother's shoulder became rigid, and she was told it would have to be broken and reset before she could get any use of it.
