With deep gratitude I should like to bear witness to the effective remedy, Christian Science. During a sojourn of a few days in a German city, I was hit by an automobile through no fault of my own. The automobile was going at great speed, and I was thrown to the ground.

The immediate correction in my thought of this happening made me cry out: '"It is not true! It is not true!" I got up, supported by men who had hurried to my side, and so reached the entrance of the hotel where I was staying. The doorman, who had witnessed the accident from his window, immediately called the police and the emergency station.

Very shortly an ambulance with a doctor arrived. He examined my injuries and ordered my immediate removal to a surgical clinic. I resisted this intention politely, however, explaining that I was a Christian Scientist and did not wish to have any medical help. The doctor told me that I had suffered a serious fracture of the left femur; that if I refused to have surgical help. I would be full responsible for whatever developed; and that I could make no claim for accident insurance against the offending driver.
