The Spiritual Community

In the branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, people come together from many walks of life. They represent greatly varied interests, tastes, social levels, cultural ties, and educational advantages. Often they have different national and racial as well as religious backgrounds. The world has produced many congenial groupings, but in the Churches of Christ. Scientist, scattered over the earth a different kind of grouping is appearing: God's spiritual community is coming to light, and the bonds that hold the members in unity are divinely strong.

In these churches all the members study the same Lesson-Sermons outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly: accept the same truths of divine Mind's allness and man's perfection as Mind's idea; work for the same spiritual movement: and declare the nonexistence of evil and matter, a stand which is counter to the general belief of the world. All members have the same objectives: to put off mortality; to be saved from sin, sickness, limitation, and death; to know the truth with power to demonstrate it in healing works.

In the churches there is mutual acknowledgment of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, mutual acceptance of the textbook she wrote, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and mutual agreement that this book contains the final revelation of divine Science, or the truth of being.
