LIFTED UP

The light shone clearly where you stood
unshaken, seeing only good,
and while you spoke the brightness grew
till what Love is winged into view.

Whenever multitudes appeared.
your calm erased the dark they feared;
the stand you took was gentleness,
your touch a mother's tenderness.

Compassionate, you passed not by
but paused, reversing lie on lie.
teaching us Love's "kingdom come,"
rebuking devils blind and dumb.

Now let us, faithful, drink earth's cup,
today the healing Christ lift up;
and prove our Master's precepts true.
So shall we know the Truth he knew.
