I have many reasons to be...
I have many reasons to be grateful for Christian Science. When I was eleven years of age, my mother was completely healed of a long-standing ailment just through reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. This impressed me so much that I voluntarily enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School and continued attending regularly until I was twenty.
However, although I was convinced of the efficacy of Christian Science, I drifted into the ways of mortal mind and began searching for happiness through material gratifications. Finally, in the depths of despair and disappointment caused by the failure of this self-seeking to make me happy, I earnestly began to study Science. I sought the help of a practitioner, and I shall never forget her wonderful encouragement and the seemingly miraculous peace and joy which came to me at this time. Hymn No. 382 in the Christian Science Hymnal, which I was asked to read, and the practitioner's gentle admonishment, "God outlines and man is outlined," have remained with me ever since. The hymn begins.
