Activities for the Armed Services

Every month hundreds of Christian Science services are conducted at military installations by Field workers of Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services. Most of these are held at installations where uniformed personnel and their families find it difficult to attend branch churches and societies because of distance or because they are restricted by their duties.

At midweek meetings speakers often testify to experiences that are peculiar to the Armed Forces. Many give their first testimonies and discover the joy of helping others and of being helped themselves.

The services at military installations are not substitutes for those in branch churches and societies, but are supplementary to them. When branch churches and societies are near installations and when other conditions make it practicable, Field workers encourage military and naval personnel to attend church in the civilian community.
