In Science and Health, our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes (p. 598), "One moment of divine consciousness, or the spiritual understanding of Life and Love, is a foretaste of eternity." And elsewhere she says (ibid., p. 246), "Each succeeding year unfolds wisdom, beauty, and holiness."

I was a confirmed member of an orthodox church when I was first told about Christian Science. I saw at once that this teaching was entirely different from what I had been taught of God and man. Next day I attended a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist, for the first time, and I saw a glimpse of light. This light is Christian Science, which has brought me peace, joy, and power; it has shown me the new birth, the way from sense to Soul, and through it I have found freedom. I attended both churches for six months, then decided to become a student of Christian Science. I have now had class instruction.

One day I was suddenly attacked by very severe pain in my back. I was hardly able to move. I tried to reject the pain immediately, but it grew worse. Next moment brought the fear that I would not be able to attend a church meeting that evening. I called a practitioner for help.
