Church Dedications

Evergreen, Colorado (Society).

Christian Science Society, Evergreen, Colo., will formally dedicate its church edifice at two services, one to be held at 11 a.m. and the second at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 5.

Although regular church services have been held for some years in Evergreen, it was in June, 1960, that recognition as a Christian Science Society was granted by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. At this time services were being held in a classroom of the Wilmot School, Evergreen. But a desire to have its own church home led the society to purchase land in Hiwan Village in February, 1961. Ground was broken in October of that year, and the first service was held in the new church January 21, 1962.

Since Christian Science churches are not dedicated until free from debt. Christian Science Society, Evergreen, is especially grateful for a generous grant from the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy which enables the society to dedicate its edifice this Sunday.—Canyon Courier (May 2, 1963).
