My mother began the study of Christian Science about the time I first entered school, and I was not yet twelve years old when I had my first demonstration of Truth's healing power.

I was in the sixth grade at school. When two months of the school year had elapsed it appeared that I was doing so poorly in my work that the teacher saw fit to send me home with a special report telling of my unsatisfactory work.

My mother was out of town for two weeks, visiting her sister in another city. I had to give the report card to my father. Now my father had never before signed our report cards; he had always left all school matters to my mother. When he received the card from me, he did no more than glance at it, and when he saw the place to sign, he signed it. Then he returned it to me.
