It is many years since I readily accepted the teachings of Christian Science as the truth taught by Christ Jesus. As I studied the textbook by Mrs. Eddy, and the periodicals, I found much help and comfort. But the real significance and value of these teachings did not become apparent to me until many experiences forced me to place complete reliance on Truth. How much I now appreciate those problems which have led me to search diligently for the understanding of the dynamic truth that being is wholly spiritual!

Having been from childhood shy and timid, with a sense of insufficiency, I found that I was adopting an apologetic attitude with regard to myself and my affairs. Through my desire to express more fully my true identity as the child of God, I came to see that holding a negative view of myself or of anyone was just a cloak for mental laziness.

When I began to claim wholeness and completeness as God's idea, I recognized the sense of insufficiency to be mortal mind's attempt to prevent free unfoldment and fulfillment of God's plan and purpose for His idea, and it was replaced by self-confidence and fearlessness.
