As an undergraduate, I experienced...

As an undergraduate, I experienced a case of bone bruise to my left femur. For a number of years I had seemingly endless operations, but no healing. Finally, after one of the series of operations, I was due on a certain day to visit the surgeon. That morning I received a letter from a dear friend. In it, Christian Science was recommended.

After the surgeon examined me, I asked him when the bone would heal. He said, "Your heart is fine, your lungs are fine," and he went on to enumerate just about everything that was favorable to healing, but finally ended by saying: "I do not know. It is a power beyond me." This surgeon was one of the best at that time and a good Christian man. I left his office bearing no ill will.

I went to a Christian Science Reading Room and was given the names of practitioners nearby, one of whom I called on. I had no further operations; and although the healing was slow, it was completed through an understanding of God in Christian Science. This occurred quite a few years ago. There has been no return of the condition, and I pursue all normal activities and play golf without any hindrance.
