I first heard of Christian Science when I was in my early teens. At that time my mother began the study of it, and our family became acquainted with it through her explanations. We seemed content for a period of years to let her handle our problems for us. It was not until after marriage that I found it necessary to begin trying to help myself and my family. With the gentle guidance and help of my mother, who had become a practitioner, I gradually became genuinely interested in Science and later had class instruction. Through my own efforts or with the help of practitioners many wonderful healings have taken place in our family over the years.

One healing of far-reaching influence was that of a son who was about to enter college when a severe carbuncle appeared on the back of his neck. His father, who was in sympathy with Science but not a student of it, became disturbed and suggested that we seek medical aid. However, the decision was left to the boy, who said, "I think I will spend a few days with Grandmother." The healing came about shortly through their prayerful work together.

As a result of this healing and the explanations given at the time, our son became a consecrated worker in Christian Science. He satisfactorily worked out problems during college years and while serving with the Naval Air Reserve during the Second World War. He later had class instruction, and for the past few years has been actively engaged in the work of a large Christian Science church, serving on the board, in the Sunday School, and in various other capacities.
