Divine Approval

[Of Special Interest to Young Men and Women]

In one of Paul's letters to Timothy we read, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (II Tim. 2:15). While Paul was speaking of Timothy's evangelical work, his advice can be of help in anything we may be doing. God is our judge of a job well done, and it is to Him that we should dedicate all our work.

If we are working and waiting for God's approval, we are not fearful of the censure of our superiors; nor are we looking for the endorsement of our peers. Mrs. Eddy states in the textbook, Science and Health (p. 254), "When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path." As we follow divine guidance, we are rewarded and often in a manner entirely unexpected.

The experience of a young Christian Scientist is a case in point. It provided a period of expansion and growth. A job which was unsought and which was generally given to an older and more experienced person was offered to the Scientist. She was placed in charge of the well-being of sixty undergraduate students at a college where she could also do part-time graduate work.
