Church Dedications

Chaffee County Republican

Buena Vista, Colorado (Society).

The members of Christian Science Society, Buena Vista, Colorado, will dedicate their church building on Sunday, June 16. There will be two services, one at 10:00 a.m. and another at 3:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Since the early 1900's Christian Science services have been held intermittently in private homes or in rented quarters for those interested.

In 1953, arrangements were made for the use of the Buena Vista Community House where services were held regularly until the church building was completed.

This society was recognized as a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in May, 1958.

The site for the church edifice was purchased in February, 1959, and construction was started in November, 1960. The first service in this building was held March 6, 1961.

Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free of debt. Through the generous contributions of members and friends and a grant from the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy all indebtedness has been cleared.—Chaffee County Republican (June 14, 1963).
