Signs of the Times
Winifred M. Merritt in The Anglican Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Second-hand religion is of no more than second-hand value in the twentieth century. Too many Christians today are waiting for someone else to "give them the answer."
In the modern Torch Bible Commentary on S. Matthew's Gospel, miracles are declared to be the "credentials" of the Christian Apostle. The Christian "apostle" in any age, the author says, must have a faith capable of working miracles, and if Christianity is what it claims to be, there will be evidence of the occurrence of miracles.
