My family came into Christian Science...

My family came into Christian Science after my older sister and I were healed as infants of a form of dysentery considered dangerous. This demonstration of God's healing power was especially convincing, since it came after the doctors had decided they could not do anything more for us and felt we would not live much longer. Many healings have been witnessed in our family since then to further strengthen our trust in God.

One particular healing has served as a milestone in my experience. It took place in the middle of the football season in my senior year in high school. As I was making a tackle in a game at another school, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my chest. Because it was of short duration and I was not sure I had felt it, I remained in the game until the end.

On running back to our bus, however, I found I was not able to breathe deeply. My wind seemed to be cut off. My coach noticed it and expressed the belief that I probably had a cracked rib. His wish was that I have an X-ray picture taken; but I assured him that everything was all right and that it would not be necessary.
