THE WEDNESDAY EVENING MEETING

A Colloquy

Personal Sense

Had I this gift—the clever turn of phrase
Which stirs the fallow heart and sows the seed
Of Truth, then would I rise and speak of ways
Through which His dear love answers every need.
But, oh, I falter, and my tongue is slow.
Mutely I sit for want of words that glow.

The Still Small Voice

Remember Moses? That his speech was slow?
Nor had he burning words at his command.
"I will be with thy mouth," said God, and, lo,
He led His people to the promised land.

Personal Sense

As I have learned to love and trust the Lord
My blessings have abundantly increased,
And it was in my heart to spread the word
To everyone invited to this feast.
But, oh, I have no miracle to tell;
Just simple truth: "He hath done all things well."

The Still Small Voice

If love breathes through the message that you bear,
Some famished heart will bless this fruitful hour,
For simple truths or miracles you share
Are clothed alike in holy, healing power.

Spread the glad word! The truth is positive.
"Away!" to cringing fears and words that grope.
Tonight I will arise and gladly give
The reasons for my many-prismed hope.
