The Seed Within Itself

"Whatever is necessary to bring a right idea to
fruition is included in that idea"

Among the many wonders of the earth which are taken for granted, the seed of a plant may well be considered one of the foremost. It has within itself all the peculiar characteristics necessary for the formation of roots, stalk, leaves, bud, blossom, and fruit. Given proper environment, the seed will be found to include everything essential to the fulfillment of its purpose.

The importance of the seed is indicated in the first chapter of Genesis, where we read, "God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth." The first chapter of Genesis is the record of God's revelation of spiritual ideas. Therefore the seed within itself is in reality a spiritual idea, which, like the seed of the earth, includes within itself whatever is necessary to the completeness of its purpose. This is an important and useful truth for the student of Christian Science.
