The Christian Science Exhibit at the Seattle World's Fair

The first World's Fair held in the United States since 1939 opened at Seattle, Washington, on April 21 and will run for six months. Although the Christian Science Exhibit at the Fair is under the direction of the Churches of Christ, Scientist, and Christian Science Societies in the state of Washington, all of the branches west of the Mississippi River have been invited to join in supporting this opportunity to inform visitors about our religion. The Mother Church has approved the exhibit and has contributed toward its cost.

The exhibit consists of five sections. The first two sections on the main floor of the exhibit building present the scientific aspect of Christianity—its law, method, and proof demonstrated in the healing of sickness and sin and in the practical solution of daily human problems. The other two sections on the main floor provide answers to questions about Christian Science and describe its discovery, history, and organization. The lower floor houses The Christian Science Monitor section and the rest, reading, and sales area.

The first section that the visitor views is the Authority Exhibit, featuring the Bible open at the First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" (Ex. 20:3), and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy open at the statement: "The First Commandment is my favorite text. It demonstrates Christian Science" (p. 340).
