"Beloved Christian Scientists...
"Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them. It is plain that nothing can be added to the mind already full." This quotation from page 210 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" by Mrs. Eddy has meant much to me. It was the first passage from her writings with which I worked in starting my study of Christian Science.
It had been my privilege to live for four years with a girl who was reared in Christian Science, and I had witnessed many wonderful healings and demonstrations in her experience. I had been suffering from a dislocated sacrum for several years, and at a time when we were attending summer school I became so crippled that I entered the university hospital. The doctors wanted to perform an operation, but I had no assurance that what they planned to do would help. My nerves were in a bad condition, and I had lost many pounds in a very few weeks. I was released from the hospital without having had the operation, which I had not felt able to face. Through this ordeal my roommate was very kind and understanding. She gave me the pamphlet entitled "God's Law of Adjustment and Other Articles" and encouraged me to turn to Christian Science.
