Years of faithful study of the Bible and of Mary Baker Eddy's writings, together with a sincere desire to put into practice the truths I was learning, have brought to me not only a sense of deep gratitude to God for Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, but also many healings, physical and mental.

When I first took up the study of Christian Science over forty years ago, it was not for physical healing, although I was in need of this, but for a clearer understanding of God and an inner peace. At that time I had tuberculosis of the lungs and was finally told that I would live only three more months. By then, however, I had a slight understanding of what this Science, when rightly applied, can do to cure sickness. So I turned to it for healing, attending the church services and applying all the spiritual truths I could understand.

I had been taking vocal lessons, but the doctors had said I must not sing any more. I can never express the joy that came to me with the realization that in a spiritual sense to sing is to praise God and that man can never stop praising God. I therefore continued to study.
