While I was working outdoors...

While I was working outdoors on my property, I injured myself and felt a severe pain. I found I could scarcely walk, and it was with great difficulty that I finally managed to reach the house. I discovered that one hipbone was almost two inches above the other, and I suffered great pain regardless of the position my body was in.

Since I am a Christian Scientist, I turned for help to the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. However, I found it difficult to concentrate because of the pain. Finally, after a day and an almost sleepless night, I called a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to give me treatment through prayer.

Two more days went by with little change. During this time I had to remain at home in bed. Then on the evening of the second day as I was praying and striving to know the truth about the situation, I suddenly realized that my thinking up to this time had been confused and fearful. I found I had been declaring spiritual truths one moment and admitting fear and error into my thought the next.
