Letters to the Press from Christian Science Committees on Publication
The Sleaford Standard
The Sleaford Standard Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England
I wholeheartedly agree with [a Canon's] enthusiastic reference to spiritual healing in your paper recently; but I regret his derogatory remark about Christian Science.
The Canon seems offended because Christian Scientists do not use doctors or medicine. Christian Science, however, is not merely a foolhardy system of doing without medicine. On the contrary, it is a positive religion that uses the spiritual laws of divine Love to establish health by casting out the fear, ignorance, or sin that, in one form or another, lies behind all disease. Mary Baker Eddy discovered these spiritual laws from the Bible in 1866. Christian Scientists greatly love these laws and enjoy proving that their power to heal disease is as effective to-day as in our Lord's day.
