Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Los Angeles, California (Forty-fourth Church).

The church edifice of Forty-fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, (Brentwood), Los Angeles, California, ... will be dedicated on Sunday, September 25, when two services will be held, the first at the usual hour of 11 a.m., and the second at 5 p.m.

It is gratifying to note the steps taken by the members of this church in making this happy occasion possible. ... In the summer of 1952, Christian Scientists in Brentwood met to discuss the question of forming an informal group. It was felt that many people would welcome the opportunity of attending services in this immediate area. The first church service was held on Sunday morning, September 21, 1952, in the Torrance Studio. By September 24 a lease was signed with the Brown Gables Conservatory at 11920 San Vicente Boulevard, and church services and Sunday School were subsequently held there. The group was recognized by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, as Christian Science Society (Brentwood), Los Angeles, California, on February 19, 1953.
