Some time ago I woke up in the...

Some time ago I woke up in the middle of the night and could not get to sleep again. I was wondering why I felt so peaceful; then I realized that my hands did not hurt any more. For more than thirty-four years they had been painful, and since I have to do a lot of sewing, this discomfort was very inconvenient. After I began to study Christian Science, I tried to understand that the condition was untrue, bearing in mind Mre. Eddy's words on page 472 of Science and Health: "Error is unreal because untrue. It is that which seemeth to be and is not."

Although this truth had often helped me and relieved the pain in the past, the trouble came back. Then I casually mentioned the difficulty in a somewhat resigned manner to a Christian Science practitioner, who was living with me. At once she made it clear to me that God, divine Truth, does not know any form of error; that one error is as unreal as another and that this one had to vanish. And when I woke up in the night, it had vanished, and the truth had been demonstrated. There has been no recurrence of the condition.

While I was gratefully pondering this, I remembered how many and how great are the blessings I have experienced. Through the help of a practitioner, and also through my own increased understanding of God's almighty power, many healings have taken place.
