My first experience in Christian Science...
My first experience in Christian Science took place when I was about fifteen years old. While I was suffering from a severe case of quinsy, my mother asked a practitioner to pray for me. A complete healing took place in one week. This led to my being enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School.
In the early years of World War II, when I wanted to join the Air Corps as an Aviation Cadet, the physical examination I was given showed that I had a hernia, a heart difficulty, and poor eyesight. My mother assured me these conditions could be healed through Christian Science; so the practitioner who had helped me before was asked to give me treatment. A few months later I again applied for admission to the corps and passed the thorough examination given to prospective aircrew. In the ten years during which I flew for the Armed Forces, I passed every medical examination without any difficulty.
At a time when our family's income was limited, my mother's reliance on Christian Science and its teaching that true supply is spiritual made it possible for me to attend college.
