HOLY PURPOSE
If
I have lightened someone's cross
Today by word or deed;
If I have loved sufficiently
To sense another's need
And answered it unsparingly
From heaven's boundless store,
Then I have used God's talent well
And am prepared for more.
If I have shed a ray of Truth
On someone's doubts and fears,
So that he sees the rainbow glow
Through tremulous, hopeful tears
And knows that God has sent that bow
For him, then I shall be
Found worthy of the holy plan
God has ordained for me.
