What of Our Waiting Moments?
A great portion of one's time, it would seem, is spent waiting for something to take place beyond the current moment. That which one looks forward to may be of either a usual or an unusual nature. The anticipation of future events emphasizes in a large measure the claim that man is a mortal, hence subject to change, to joy and sorrow, health and sickness, life and death.
Christian Science declares that there is in Truth no passage of time. Mrs. Eddy says (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 12), "We own no past, no future, we possess only now."
What should be in our thoughts as moments seem to pass by? If wise, we shall keep each one filled with the truth taught in Christian Science. We should hold in thought the presence of God, Life, Truth, and Love, and recognize that man is the reflection of God. We can ill afford to deny our true selfhood, for in that denial lies our mortality. Our true selfhood, on the other hand, cannot be defective, for it is entirely spiritual and eternal. It is characterized by health and goodness. Spiritual beauty and well-being are its changeless elements.
