Our family was introduced to Christian Science over fifty years ago in Russia. My father's work as an engineer took us there. At that time my mother was suffering from a severe case of gallstones for which medical specialists gave no hope of recovery, even through surgery. We got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner, then in St. Petersburg, who took up prayerful work, and my mother was healed.

I should like to relate an experience which proved to me without a doubt the healing efficacy of Christian Science. During my high school years a goiter manifested itself. Help was sought from a Christian Science practitioner. However, by the time I became a senior, the difficulty had not yielded, but had become aggravated instead. I became resentful and discouraged. Not only was I uncomfortable, but I found the condition embarrassing. I dreaded the thought of going on to college.

One day, upon arriving home from school, I opened The Christian Science Monitor. There my attention was caught by an advertisement for a junior college for students whose parents are Christian Scientists. My parents were delighted that I had shown interest in further schooling. They got in touch with the school at once, and I was enrolled. It took three days to get there by train; so I had time to think and study.
