ONE LAW AND ONE LAWGIVER

The Bible says (Isa. 33:22), "The Lord is our lawgiver." And God's law is expressed in Genesis (1:31), "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." God made all, including the law which governs His creation, and since there is only one God, there is only one lawgiver and one spiritual law.

In answer to the question, "How would you define Christian Science?" Mary Baker Eddy says, "As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony" (Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1). So-called laws of matter, which are only theories, beliefs, of mortal mind, seem to control human existence, but an understanding of Christian Science, the law of God, proves that God, divine Mind, governs the universe, including man, in perfect harmony.

Mrs. Eddy often refers to the importance of the Ten Commandments. In "Miscellaneous Writings," she says (p. 21), "Christian Science begins with the First Commandment of the Hebrew Decalogue, 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me.'"
