I first heard of Christian Science...

I first heard of Christian Science more than twenty-four years ago. At that time I was in need of a physical healing. After a surgical operation for hernia, I had chronic headaches for three years. The medical specialists could not give me any relief, although they tried various remedies.

It was at this stage that a friend told me of Christian Science. A Christian Science practitioner assured me of the unreality of pain and explained that I must affirm that there is no truth in it. I worked constantly to do this. I also pondered the Lord's Prayer, and every morning and every night I read from Science and Health. Later I began to study the Lesson-Sermons, outlined in the Quarterly. This study resulted in the complete healing of headaches and has brought me untold blessings.

One of the blessings that resulted from my study was the healing of a severe cough which had troubled me every winter for many years. I saw that it was fear I needed to overcome, and my healing came with the realization that "there is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear," as the Bible tells us (I John 4:18).
