DEMONSTRATING THE ACTIVITY OF DIVINE LOVE

It is an unalterable law of God, divine Love, that when an individual replaces the false sense of himself and his fellow men with the truth of man's pure, spiritual being as the reflection of God, in spite of all the evidence of the material senses, both he and those concerned are blessed. Too many concrete and practical examples of this truth have occurred in the past to allow any doubt that the ever-operative law of Love is applicable at all times and under all circumstances.

Joseph, in his attitude of mercy and forgiveness to his brethren who had conspired to destroy him, and Moses, in his unutterable patience with the children of Israel in spite of their disobedience and murmurings against him, are examples of the activity of this law. These two men must have been constantly and prayerfully at work to overcome with the truth their own reaction to the unrighteous thoughts and behavior of others.

The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science is a shining example of love in action. With the compassionate understanding that each individual in his real being is the son of God, Mrs. Eddy denied the false concepts of infidelity, treachery, and dishonesty manifested to her by some of those whom she had sought only to bless. Her inspired writings show that the law of Love demands that we too overcome false concepts and replace them with the spiritual understanding of the sinless, loving nature of man as God made him, the true selfhood of everyone.
