I am deeply grateful that my mother set her children an example by living the truths of Christian Science and taught us to study and apply them. We were told almost daily: "Seek divine guidance," and, "Do your prayerful mental work." When properly applied, Christian Science has met my every need.

By seeking divine guidance, I have found employment, been led to suitable places to live, and have made many friends. By doing my mental work properly, I have established in consciousness man's birthright of harmony, and many healings have resulted.

About four years ago I became ill with symptoms of food poisoning. In spite of severe pain, I clung to the sense of my true being as perfect and harmonious. Relief came slowly, but on the second day I was able to go on a three-day journey with a member of my family. As we were returning home, I pondered this sentence from page 495 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea." As I strove to realize that in reality I expressed only the qualities of God, the belief of the reality of a self apart from Him vanished from my consciousness. Soon after that I was entirely free.
