One of the healings which I have experienced in Christian Science and which stands out as a beacon to me took place in the fall of the last year of World War I. I had been a student of Christian Science for about a year at that time and was stationed in one of the large college camps where we had just about completed our training as maintenance units for army trucks.

An epidemic of influenza swept over our camp, and I was detailed as an assistant in one of the temporary hospitals. I had served there for two weeks when the symptoms of influenza presented themselves to me. I worked and prayed for a couple of days, but the condition seemed to get worse.

I had been allowed to stay on my cot in the barracks; but I managed to get up, make my way to the radio room, and send a message to a practitioner, asking for help in Christian Science. In a few days I was much improved, and before the end of the week I was released for duty and reported for drill with the rest of the company.
