THE ACCUSER IS CAST DOWN

Is there anyone who at one time or another has not been falsely accused? And when we are unjustly attacked by one whom we have respected or perhaps have considered a friend, the problem seems especially perplexing.

The human mind may suggest many ways of clearing the air. One is that of going to the accuser and telling him the whole truth, showing him that he has been misinformed or has misunderstood the facts and motives involved. This is consistent with the counsel given by Mary Baker Eddy in her work "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," where she says (p. 130), "A lie left to itself is not so soon destroyed as it is with the help of truth-telling." But, as many have learned through experience, this plan does not accomplish its purpose unless it is preceded and accompanied by prayerful metaphysical preparation.

In Christian Science we learn that the only real solution for every problem must be found in the divine Mind, God. Prayerfully turning to God for guidance, we shall find the very best way to act or think concerning any situation. The Bible assures us (Isa. 55:8, 9): "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
