Filling Our Niche

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

We are told that unless more classroom and dormitory spare is provided in our colleges and universities, there will not he enough room for those who wish to continue their academic studies. But earnest students of Christian Science do not have to accept this human picture. They can know that in proving God's government of man, they will always occupy their right place and at the proper time. In "Retrospection and Introspection," Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 70), "Each individual must fill his own niche in time and eternity."

Moses fulfilled his place "in time and eternity." His wholehearted reliance on God for guidance resulted in the protection of the Israelites. We read in Exodus (13:21), "The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light." Moses refused to accept the picture of lack of right place and was able to lead his people out of bondage and eventually to the Promised Land.

Mrs. Eddy has written of this experience in Science and Health (p. 566), "As the children of Israel were guided triumphantly through the Red Sea, the dark ebbing and flowing tides of human fear,—as they were led through the wilderness, walking wearily through the great desert of human hopes, and anticipating the promised joy,—so shall the spiritual idea guide all right desires in their passage from sense to Soul, from a material sense of existence to the spiritual, up to the glory prepared for them who love God."
