A Lesson on Spiritual Power
[From a teacher in a branch church Sunday School]
A class of twelve-year-old boys and girls were enthusiastically recounting the daring exploits they had seen in the various media of mass communication of our day. "Powerful" was the word that punctuated their sentences, and the effect of this power was violence and destruction.
The teacher, however, was obviously unimpressed by this recital, declaring that she did not think either the men or their weapons were powerful. "In my opinion they express more fear than power," she said, "always wanting to destroy something." The children were silent for a moment before such an incredible point of view.
"But who do you think is powerful?" they wanted to know.
