For many years Christian Science has been my greatest blessing, and I have been wonderfully sustained in its active service. I had a beautiful experience when serving as First Reader in the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, of which I was then a member.

One Sunday I awakened to find I could not utter a single word aloud. There had not been a sign of this condition the night before, and I became fearful as I realized a substitute could not be found in so short a time.

The first thing I had to do was to get rid of the fear; so I sat down to work it out. The thought came to me that in reality the only voice present was the voice of Truth and that nothing could impede, obstruct, or stop its utterance, and I held to that thought. When I left for church the condition was still the same; but joy and gratitude filled my consciousness, because I knew that the power and presence of God, divine Love, were going before me every step of the way.
