THE FLIGHT IN US

When shall we get the view,
Our feet on a star?
Launched into matter space by conversion
Of matter into energy,
Exploring invention
Challenges all convention
Of thinking,
Questions where we are.

But when shall we dare
Leave cupful of night or day
For unlimited, luminous now—
Accepting the power that bore
Immediately to shore
A fishing boat
Across Gennesaret?

And have we even yet
Understood "here" or "there,"
Or how they both unite
To hang a mist
Over cosmos of Soul?
Even our tip of wing,
Uplifted in delight
At freedom, points
To one control.

Within ourselves the exploring,
The expanding flight!
