KEEP GOING

SOMETIMES an individual reaches a place in his experience when, sorely beset by grief, illness, or misfortune, he feels he cannot go on any longer. God is never nearer than in such hours, because the individual, perhaps without realizing it, is nearer the point where he sees that dependence on human help is useless.

Christian Science shows us how to draw near to God, how to lean upon His tenderness, how to keep going through the floods of seeming difficulties until we know Him as He is — our Father-Mother.

To one in dire straits who wrote for comfort and support, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, replied (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 157), "Yes, my student, my Father is Father; and He helps us most when help is most needed, for He is the ever-present help." She closed her letter with this assurance: "Error has no power but to destroy itself. It cannot harm you; it cannot stop the eternal currents of Truth."
