My first physical healing in Christian Science occurred many years ago. I had been told by specialists, practicing in two large cities, that I would be an invalid for the rest of my life if I did not submit to an immediate operation. Having undergone one the previous year without having been healed, I now refused another and turned instead to a Christian Science practitioner, whose name had been given to me just two nights before.

The healing, which was slow, brought a necessity for patience, sincerity, and persistence, for I was seldom free from pain for a full day. The discordant condition finally disappeared in about two years and has never returned. Since that time, I have never employed a doctor or used any medicine, but have relied entirely upon God, divine Mind, for the answer to all my problems.

I have always been grateful that I accepted Christian Science at once. Although I was seeking answers to many statements in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I did not doubt that this Science is the truth.
