"THE NUMERATION-TABLE OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE"

The importance of correct instruction in the rudiments of a subject is generally recognized. When a child learns figures and their value, problems in arithmetic become progressively easier to solve.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy gives us this counsel (p. 326): "The purpose and motive to live aright can be gained now. This point won, you have started as you should. You have begun at the numeration-table of Christian Science, and nothing but wrong intention can hinder your advancement." God is the Principle of this Science, and His law is exact in premise and conclusion; and our obedience thereto must be exact and steadfast if we would progress.

Christian Science reveals that man, God's child, is fully endowed with the qualities and attributes of his Maker. Man, therefore, passes through no process of human education and growth, for he is by reflection as perfect as God, Spirit, is perfect. In our present stage of experience, however, primal spiritual facts must first be learned that we may develop in orderliness, usefulness, and healing ability. In the words of Isaiah (28:10), "Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little."
