About forty years ago I had only ridicule for Christian Science. It was not until I had read the first chapter in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy that I found I had not been criticizing Christian Science at all; I had been ridiculing what I thought Christian Science was. While reading this first chapter, entitled "Prayer," I was impressed by its logic, and I have never again ridiculed Christian Science.

My first healing about thirty years ago was the overcoming of the smoking habit. I was told by a Christian Science friend that if I continued prayerful study of the Bible and Science and Health, the smoking habit would leave me.

I continued my study and soon reached the point of understanding where I realized that a tobacco weed had no power over me. Then there came a sincere desire to be free from this habit. I smoked less and less until one day I was nauseated by the taste, and I knew I had been healed.
