DEMONSTRATING OUR SPIRITUAL IDENTITY

Christian Science teaches that man's true identity is spiritual and that we progress in the degree that we demonstrate Christlike qualities in daily living. In order to manifest our true, spiritual identity it is necessary that we abandon false, material beliefs.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 430), "Mortal mind must part with error, must put off itself with its deeds, and immortal manhood, the Christ ideal, will appear." Hourly we have to decide whether or not our thoughts and acts are in accordance with true manhood.

As we develop the understanding of our spiritual selfhood as a son of God, we increasingly perceive that man is the everlasting expression of Mind, imaging forth God's nature and attributes. Comprehending our true, spiritual identity, we are able to prove that health and harmony are not material qualities, but qualities of God, Spirit, which man possesses by reflection.
