APPRECIATING OUR TRUE SELFHOOD
A Feeling of pride or self-importance, when considered humanly, is certainly an undesirable characteristic. However, when the word "self" is considered in the light of the teachings of Christian Science, one comes to realize more and more the necessity of holding in consciousness the highest appreciation of real selfhood.
To understand one's true self, one must first understand God and man's relationship to Him as His reflection. The real man is ever the expression of the one God. The real man is forever perfect, eternal, sinless, and pure, because he emanates from divine Mind, God, the source of all true being.
The true selfhood of each one of us is spiritual. Christ Jesus never lost sight of his perfect self. It was his understanding of the Christ, the spiritual idea of God, and his positive affirmation of his true selfhood that enabled him to do his marvelous works. Also, it was this affirmation of his true selfhood which the people of that day so generally misunderstood.
