My gratitude for Christian Science...
My gratitude for Christian Science knows no bounds. It has been demonstrated in many ways in my life. The following demonstration will, I hope, lift someone else out of the deep sense of despair which I once felt because of a delayed healing.
While serving as Second Reader in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I became almost deaf. After a week or so of this condition, it came to me that it might be hardened wax and could be removed, perhaps, by the use of some material remedy. This I refused to do, recalling what Mrs. Eddy says in the textbook, Science and Health (p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive."
I had a treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, and it was brought out to me that we do not really hear with the material ear but with the spiritual senses. This Bible verse was referred to me (Prov. 20:12): "The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them." I diligently studied it.
