DAILY SUFFICIENCY OF GOD'S IDEAS

The Israelites of old, while journeying through the wilderness, were fed daily with manna from heaven. The Bible tells us (Ex. 16:16–18): "This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons. ... And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating."

It was important that each one gather enough each day for that particular day only. Those who kept some until the next morning found that it had spoiled. Many centuries later, Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, said (Matt. 6:34), "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself."

Christian Science teaches us to rely on God as the source of all good and also of our supply, whether it be for health or for the fulfilling of home, business, or church duties. The supply which comes to us from God consists of spiritual ideas, which we may utilize in daily experience. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 544), "In God's creation ideas became productive, obedient to Mind."
