SILENCING DISCONTENT
TO be contented is to be satisfied with things as they are, with no desire to have anyone or anything changed. Christian Science teaches one to find contentment in the demonstrable knowledge that God made all and made it good.
On the other hand, discontent or dissatisfaction with circumstances, with oneself, or with others is the result of allowing oneself to dwell in thought on the material concept of man with its frailties and limitations.
Mary Baker Eddy tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 519): "Deity was satisfied with His work. How could He be otherwise, since the spiritual creation was the outgrowth, the emanation, of His infinite self-containment and immortal wisdom?"
